Pronouncing Old Virginia Names

Today I ran across an article from 1993 on the pronunciation of Old Virginia surnames and colonial place names that I thought you might like. Dropping Ws was a typical practice (as in England) and a good example is the family name ‘Burwell’ which is pronounced ‘Burl’.
